Help when you need it

QuickCut Support

Find setup guidance, solve common media and export issues, or send the details we need to investigate a problem.

Start here

  • Import media
Select Import or drag video, audio, and image files into the media bin or timeline.
  • Edit the timeline
Drag clips, trim their edges, split at the playhead, and use snapping to close unintended gaps.
  • Improve playback
Allow QuickCut to finish generating preview media, then use Render Preview for demanding sections.
  • Export a project
Select an export preset, choose a destination, and keep QuickCut open until validation finishes.

For a walkthrough of every workspace area, visual and audio tools, keyboard controls, and all three AI providers, use the QuickCut Studio Guide.

System requirements

  • macOS 12 or later.
  • Apple Silicon or Intel Mac.
  • Enough free storage for source media, preview files, and finished exports.

QuickCut includes its native media-processing tools. A separate FFmpeg or Homebrew installation should not be required in release builds.

Common questions

A project reports missing media

Connect the drive or volume containing the original file, then use QuickCut's relink workflow to locate the file or its containing folder. Saving a project does not copy all source media into the project file.

Playback is choppy

Wait for the media-bin preview indicator to show that processing is complete. Render a preview for the timeline, reduce other high-load applications, and confirm that the source drive remains connected.

An export fails or differs from the preview

Save the project, retry with a local destination that has sufficient free space, and keep the full QuickCut error message. Confirm that every source file remains readable. Do not delete the project or source media while troubleshooting.

QuickCut asks for file or microphone permission

QuickCut requests access when you select media, projects, export folders, or narration recording. Review access under macOS System Settings, Privacy & Security. Denying access may prevent the related feature from working.

AI tools do not respond

Confirm the selected provider, model, API key, internet connection, and provider quota. Ollama must be running and the selected local model must support the requested content. Cloud providers can also experience temporary capacity or safety-filter errors.

Where are API keys stored?

Configured Gemini and AssemblyAI keys are stored in the macOS Keychain. Never send an API key, Apple password, or Keychain password in a support request.
