1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to QuickCut Studio for macOS, published by Reality Web Services, LLC. It covers information processed by the app and does not replace the separate privacy policies of Apple or optional third-party AI providers.
2. Information processed on your Mac
QuickCut processes the content needed to provide video-editing features. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:
- Video, audio, image, and project files that you select or drag into the app.
- Project text, captions, media descriptions, tags, timeline edits, and export settings.
- Microphone audio when you choose to record narration or a voiceover.
- Technical media details such as duration, dimensions, frame rate, file location, and timestamps.
- Proxy files, waveforms, thumbnails, autosaves, recovery files, recordings, freeze frames, and exports created as part of editing.
These materials are stored on your Mac in locations you select or in QuickCut's application-support and cache folders. Reality Web Services does not receive this local content through an app-operated server.
3. File and microphone permissions
QuickCut requests access to files and folders only when needed for a feature you invoke. macOS may remember access to selected project files, media, folders, and export destinations so that saved projects continue to work after the app is reopened.
Microphone access is requested only when you use in-app narration recording. You can review or revoke file and microphone permissions in macOS System Settings.
4. Optional AI services
AI features are optional. QuickCut displays a notice before first use of a supported cloud provider. When you invoke a cloud AI feature, the app connects directly to that provider using the API key you configured.
Google Gemini
For media analysis or AI-assisted rough cuts, QuickCut may send your instructions, media metadata, sampled image frames, images, videos, or related project context to Google's Gemini service. The exact content depends on the feature and options you select.
AssemblyAI
For transcription and caption generation, QuickCut may upload the audio you select to AssemblyAI and receive transcript data in return.
Ollama
When configured to use Ollama at its default local address, prompts and supported media samples are processed by an Ollama model running on your computer. If you change the Ollama server address, data is sent to the server address you provide.
Third-party providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Their retention and training settings may depend on your account and service configuration. Review those settings before sending sensitive material.
5. API keys and account information
Gemini and AssemblyAI API keys entered in QuickCut are stored in the macOS Keychain. They are used to authenticate requests to the selected provider and are not sent to Reality Web Services. QuickCut does not require a Reality Web Services account for local editing.
6. Tracking, analytics, and advertising
QuickCut does not include advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or behavioral analytics. Reality Web Services does not sell personal information collected through QuickCut.
If you obtain QuickCut through the Mac App Store, Apple processes purchase, download, diagnostic, and store-account information according to Apple's policies and your Apple settings.
7. Retention and deletion
Local projects and generated files remain on your Mac until you remove them. Cache and preview files may be cleared from within the app or by removing QuickCut's application data. Removing a project file does not automatically delete its original media or exported videos.
Content sent to an optional AI provider is retained according to that provider's policies and your provider account settings. Reality Web Services does not maintain a separate copy on an app-operated server.
8. Security
QuickCut uses macOS sandboxing, user-selected file permissions, security-scoped bookmarks, and Keychain storage to limit access and protect configured credentials. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection, so avoid sending highly sensitive content to third-party AI services unless their terms and your account settings meet your needs.
9. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as QuickCut changes. The effective date above will be updated when a new version is published. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, when appropriate, in the app or release notes.
10. Contact
Questions about QuickCut Studio privacy can be submitted through the QuickCut Support Center or the TheMarketshop contact page.
